Biography

Myrna Barakat Friedman is a full-time commercial arbitrator and mediator. She is the President and a Founding Fellow of the Association of Commercial and Transactional ADR Professionals (ACT-ADR). She has been appointed as Chair, Sole Arbitrator, Co-Arbitrator, Appellate Arbitrator and Mediator to domestic and international cases involving a broad range of commercial and financial matters, including matters under the AAA, ICDR, ICC, CPR and FINRA rules.

Myrna brings to her ADR practice more than 25 years of international corporate and transactional experience. She began her career as an M&A and securities lawyer at Sullivan & Cromwell, went on to serve as Chief M&A Counsel and Managing Director at CIT Group, and later founded MBCAP, a boutique advisory firm focused on strategic growth transactions.

Myrna is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a CEDR-Accredited Mediator. She earned both common law and civil law degrees from McGill University’s Faculty of Law, and graduated from McGill’s School of Management, concentrating in Economics and Finance.
