Biography
Nathan D. O’Malley is an international and U.S. arbitrator with more than 24 years of experience resolving complex commercial disputes. He has served as sole arbitrator, party-appointed arbitrator, and chair of the tribunal in over 60 arbitrations and has acted in more than 100 proceedings overall. His appointments span diverse industries, including renewable energy, construction, engineering, distribution, intellectual property, payments, and post-M&A disputes.
Mr. O’Malley is highly experienced in arbitrations conducted under leading arbitral rules, including ICC, AAA-ICDR, UNCITRAL, SIAC, Swiss Rules, the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, and WIPO. He has presided over cases seated in jurisdictions across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Central America, involving matters such as renewable energy projects, large-scale infrastructure developments, joint ventures, and cross-border commercial transactions.
In addition to his arbitrator practice, Mr. O’Malley writes and speaks extensively on arbitration and serves as an adjunct professor at USC Gould School of Law, where he teaches international arbitration. He is the author of Rules of Evidence in International Arbitration: An Annotated Guide (2nd Edition - Routledge/Informa, London), a leading reference cited by courts and tribunals worldwide.
