Biography

Peter Neumann, J.D., LL.M., FCIArb is an independent arbitrator and Adjunct Professor of Law at the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. He is listed on the following institutional arbitrator panels: AAA, HKIAC (List), SIAC (Reserve Panel), KCAB International, SHIAC, CIETAC, BAC/BIAC, SCIA, HIAC, FINRA, and LACBA ACMAS. He has been appointed as sole, wing, or presiding arbitrator in over 35 arbitrations encompassing a range of technology, finance, and other industries. Mr. Neumann has over 25 years of corporate practice experience, primarily in China. He is professionally fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese and has handled arbitral proceedings (including award drafting) entirely in Chinese. He was previously Shanghai Managing Partner of international law firms and Asia Pacific GC of a Fortune 500 chemicals company. He holds an A.B. in Chinese Language and Literature from Dartmouth College (1984), J.D. from the U.C.L.A. School of Law (1989), and LL.M. in International Commercial Arbitration from the Pepperdine Caruso School, Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution.
