Brown Bag Lunch Meeting in San Francisco

CalArb’s Law Firms & Corporations Committee held its first in-person brown bag lunch meeting of the year in San Francisco on October 19, 2023, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.  The conference room for the meeting was reserved courtesy of Marc Lewis and his firm, Lewis & Llewellyn LLP, on the 4th floor of 601 Montgomery Street, San Francisco.   As this was a welcoming and organization meeting, there was not a CLE presentation.   The meeting was in person so that committee members and guests can introduce themselves and discuss organization and programming for the coming year.

Webinar: Is There a Role for the Arbitrator in Settlement?

Often, including after arbitration has started, the most efficient and satisfactory resolution of a dispute is by agreement of the parties. This program explored how to balance the goals of the arbitration process:getting a fair and cost-effective resolution while insuring the impartiality of the arbitrator and the neutrality of the process. The panel discussed methods of facilitating settlement during arbitration that meet these objectives.  Sponsored by the California Lawyers Association, this panel discustion indluded CalArb board members Ruth V. Glick and Marcus Quintanilla.


ICAL 20th Anniversary Conference

August 31 – September 1, 2023 in Stockholm, Sweden

This was the 20 th Anniversary Conference of the ICAL program in Stockholm, Sweden on August 31 and September 1, 2023.  This momentous event featured a 1.5 day conference on the theme of “Evolution or Revolution: Have We Mastered International Arbitration or Do We Need a New Blueprint for the Future”, a gala dinner, and other networking opportunities.


Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) Symposium 2023

Society of Construction Law North America Branch Conference

The three-hour seminar begins at 2:30 PM PT and is being held at the law offices of Musick, Peeler & Garrett LLP in Los Angeles. California has set the ambitious goal of achieving 100% renewable energy and zero-carbon electricity by the end of 2045. The state’s plan to achieve this goal largely depends on its ability to successfully implement offshore wind energy. In 2022, regulatory approvals were granted to move forward with two designated development areas, and auctions were held. This is a huge step forward in the effort to bring offshore wind to California.
