California Arbitration is thrilled to announce the winner of its inaugural International Arbitration & ADR Writing Competition. This competition was designed to encourage law students and young practitioners to delve into critical issues in the field of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.

We received submissions from all over the world, including California, New York, Washington D.C., Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, India, China, Singapore, Guatemala, Argentina, Korea, Kenya, Switzerland, and Egypt. We are pleased to recognize and reward the most exceptional written contributions that not only display academic rigor but also contribute to the broader discourse in the field.

And the Winner Is…

We are delighted to announce that the winner of the 2023 CalArb International Arbitration & ADR Writing Competition is Iris Ng.

Her entry (linked here), which explores generative artificial intelligence, stood out for its depth of research, clarity of argument, and originality of thought.

About the Winning Entry

Iris Ng’s entry tackled our theme, Innovation in International Arbitration, providing a comprehensive analysis that is both theoretically sound and practically relevant. Her work will be published on the CalArb website, distributed to CalArb members, and she will also receive a cash prize of $2,500.

Acknowledgments
